IT audit for a small business: scope and price.
In a company with up to a dozen or so workstations, an audit usually starts with an hour's conversation, and the paid stage is ordered only once it is clear what it should cover.
The first step is a free IT review: 60 minutes online with an engineer. We check whether your backups can be restored, who has access to administrative accounts, how the network is built and whether signing in to email requires a second factor. At the end you get a card with your three top priorities. For a small business, this is often enough to know what to do first.
If the problem lies in your processes, meaning retyping data, spreadsheets and document flow, an operational audit is the right choice. It takes 2-5 days and costs from PLN 3,500 net, or from PLN 6,000 net in companies with more than 50 people. When you know which process is causing trouble, mapping a single process from PLN 1,800 net is enough.
We quote a full infrastructure and security audit, with a review of the configuration of servers, the network, accounts and backups, after a conversation about the scope, because its cost depends on the number of devices and locations. An audit of an existing Bitdefender protection installation costs from PLN 500 net. IT audit or process audit? It depends on what hurts.
Both begin with a conversation, but end with a different kind of decision.
An infrastructure audit answers questions about backups, accounts, updates, the network, servers and security. An operational audit follows how information and work move between people and systems: where data is retyped by hand, where a decision waits for an email and which report depends on one person.
If you have downtime, no documentation or backups you cannot trust, we start with the infrastructure. If the business runs but loses time on manual tasks and spreadsheets that never agree, process mapping is the right choice. If you have both, we keep them separate in the report and price them separately.
How to prepare so the audit gives a useful result.
You don't need to write documentation for the auditor. You need the people who know how the work is actually done.
Before we start, we agree who is responsible for the audit on your side, who owns the processes under review and which employees carry them out every day. We ask for sample forms, reports or exports, anonymised where necessary. We only receive technical access if the agreed scope requires it.
Real cases tell us the most: an order with an exception, an invoice correction, missing data in a report or a task that circulates between departments. We look for places where the process forces manual workarounds, has no owner or leaves no trail from which the status of a matter can be checked. The report does not assess the work of individual people.
Priorities after the audit, in order, with the reasons.
We assess every recommendation for impact, risk, cost and how ready the business is for the change.
We separate actions that reduce significant risk from improvements that save time. We also point out the dependencies: automation should not get ahead of tidying up the data, and a new BI dashboard will not settle a dispute about how to calculate a metric. The plan shows the order of actions, the people responsible and the tools needed at each stage.
We base the estimate of benefits on observation and data from the business. If the starting point cannot be measured, we write down the assumption and how to check it instead of quoting a savings percentage with nothing behind it. A recommendation can also be: don't automate, simplify the procedure.
The report is yours, even if someone else does the implementation.
The materials exist so that you can make a decision and hand the work to any contractor.
You receive the report, diagrams and priority matrix in the agreed format. They describe the current state, the proposed flow, exceptions, owners and acceptance criteria. Passwords and other credentials are never in the report; we hand them over separately under our security procedure.
You can implement the recommendations yourselves, with your current provider or with NexaIT. If we prepare an implementation proposal, it is a separate document with a scope, schedule and price. The audit does not commit you to ordering the next stage.

Mapping a process usually needs only interviews, a walk-through of the work and anonymised examples.
Before the audit, we specify the data we need, how it will be shared and who will have access. We don't copy entire datasets just in case. If the analysis requires personal data, commercial information or administrative access, we agree the legal basis, safeguards and the date working materials will be deleted. An NDA is standard.
The people taking part in interviews know the purpose of the conversation, and the process owner approves the map of the current state before we prepare recommendations. If an urgent risk comes to light during the audit, we report it immediately, without waiting for the final report. Fixing it, however, requires a separate order, unless it was within the scope.

Do we then have to order the implementation from you?
No. The report, diagrams and priority matrix are yours. You can implement the recommendations yourself, with us or with another company.
How long does an operational audit take and what does it cost?

Do you run the audit remotely?
Interviews and document analysis usually take place online. We plan on-site observation when the process happens on the shop floor, in a warehouse or at a workstation that cannot be shown on screen. Travel is charged according to our price list and shown in the proposal.
